Waterfront House week 36 news

Pauline and her mother had a lovely week yet again (11th time). Three disasters but some excellent bird watching and some good shopping.their disasters were that the cream tea shop at Lepe had closed, that the icecream man at Hatchet Pond had disappeared and that M&S also John lewis were now serving coffee in paper cups - how standards have fallen. Their bird watching was much better.Kingfishers at Blashford, wheatears and black tailed godwits at Beaulieu, oyster catchers at Hythe

  1. We had a wonderful fortnight (only our 7th or 8th year!) in June, no disasters, but then the cream tea shop at Lepe was open, the ice cream man was at Hatchet Pond and we had no paper cups anywhere! Don't think we did so well on the bird watching front, but then Mum and Dad are the birdwatchers, hubby and I can just about recognise the garden varieties although we did recognise the woodpeckers at Norley Wood, and the oystercatchers at Hythe. Cadman's Pool and Janesmoor are lovely areas for watching the birds and having a nice walk and hopefully they should have filled in the potholes on the approach to Cadmans now (the men told us they were doing it the very next day when we visited!)

Managed to 'lose' a couple of days in Lymington, shopping in the morning and then a picnic on the green by the Yacht club before spending the afternoon watching the boats and/or reading. Also had a lovely time at Netley Country Park one Sunday and the visit brought back memories for Dad who was in hospital there while serving with the Royal Engineers. It was a lovely area to walk around, or just sit and watch the boats, good ice creams too.

The following week felt we had stepped back in time as we sat in Poole Park watching the Sunday cricket and Poole cricket team playing a league match, although on hearing the supporters calling "come on Poole" Mum did ask "who is this Paul everyone is shouting about!"
